CCFFR Venue 2002

OVERVIEW

This year's annual meeting of the Canadian Conference for Fisheries Research (January 3-5, 2002) will be held at The Empire Landmark Hotel and Conference Centre, situated in downtown Vancouver, BC. This is Vancouver's tallest hotel and is located downtown on Robson Street, just a short walk from Stanley Park, the Vancouver Aquarium, English Bay , and the Granville Island market. Every room has a private balcony with spectacular views of the north shore mountains, English Bay, the Strait of Georgia, the Gulf Islands, the Fraser River Delta, or the downtown area. In terms of extra-curricular activities, it is very close to great shopping, sports and entertainment venues, a multitude of restaurants, and only a short ride to some great, local, ski mountains. And, the world-renowned Whistler/Blackcomb ski resort area is within a two hour drive. The social mixer and the banquet, which we hope to have at least partially subsidized, will both be held at The Empire. We are negotiating complimentary passes to the Vancouver Aquarium for conference participants and, pending interest, will arrange for a group of conference participants to cross-country or downhill ski, or snowshoe at one of the local mountains on January 6.
