Two investigators from MSC and six from DFO have joined the
project. Each brings new capabilities to the program and all will
benefit from a strong, multidisciplinary research effort using a
state-of-the-art coastal observation system. New instrument systems
will be added to the system. Besides supporting new partnerships
between university and government researchers, this funding is very
significant because:
- It ensures that the Lunenburg observation and modeling system will operate at least through the end of 2005, giving us the opportunity to plan complementary research and effective public outreach.
- It supports a Program Manager (MSC-A Scientist) who will
facilitate communications, outreach and planning.
- It also support a Steering Committee Chair (Jim Elliott, DFO
Emeritus, former Division Manager of Ocean Sciences), who will
coordinate many aspects of communications and planning. Jim, working
with the Program Manager, will be an important link with the CMEP
Board as we develop strategies for partnerships and research.
