Patrick Kyba's Matlab m-files

Below are listed m-files that I have created and you may find useful. Feel free to download them and use them. The files are provided "as is" and it is up to the user to ensure that the equations in the files are right (although I am confident they are correct, givent their sources - this is just me covering my ass). If you DO find a problem with a file, please let me know (see email below). Also note that these files may change without notice.

Ruddick and Shirtcliffe, 1979

condfsalt.m: computes the electrical conductivity of salt water where the amount of salt in the water is known. Temperature must be at 20 C.

density.m: computes the density of water given the temperature and salt weight fraction in the water.

densitycont.m: contours density (in T and S) using the equation given in Ruddick and Shirtcliffe, 1979.

saltfcond.m: computes the weight fraction of salt from the electrical conductivity. Temperature must be at 20 C.

wghts.m: calculates the weight fraction from the electrical conductivity and temperature of the water.

PME MSCTI Probe

probeAB.m: computes the A and B constants for the PME MicroScale Conductivity Temperature Instrument.

probecond.m: computes the conductivity of water using the PME MicroScale Conductivity Temperature Instrument.

probeG.m: computes the gain constant using the PME MicroScale Conductivity Temperature Instrument.

probetemp.m: computes the temperature of water using the PME MicroScale Conductivity Temperature Instrument.

Other files

sal2cond.m: computes the conductivity of a salt water sample from its salinity.

tempc20.m: returns the ratio of the electrical conductance of a salt water solution at temperature 20 C to the electrical conductance of a salt water solution at another temperature.

tempc25.m: returns the ratio of the electrical conductance of a salt water solution at temperature 25 C to the electrical conductance of a salt water solution at another temperature.
