1-D unsteady flow model is established ( Tang and Chen, 1998 ). The model is used for predicting the channel deformation under the conditions of long river reach and long term. Some basic problems in the model are processed with reasonable methods. The model is verified with measurement data and used to calculate the water levels due to waterway regulation. The model is also used for calculation of the density flow and water intake schemes in a reservoir. The computational precision is satisfactory.
