Soil Erosion Formula and Its Application in Sediment Yield Calculation
A formula of impact force produced by raindrop is deduced using Newton's Second Motion Law based on the law of rainfall erosion on the upland of ridge-hill in Loess Plateau region ( Tang, 1995 ). It is assumed that splash rate of raindrop correlates to the erosion force of raindrop linearly. A splash rate formula of raindrop is developed finally. The formula reflects the main influence factors of rainfall erosion.
Sediment yield depends on the comparison of the transport capacity of flow and the supply sediment. A physical calculation mode of sediment yield from slope land and a routing method of the flow and sediment on the complicated slope land are put forward ( Tang and Chen, 1996).
