OVERVIEW
This year's annual meeting of the Canadian Conference For Fisheries Research (January 2-5, 2003) will be held at
the
Westin Ottawa Hotel , situated in
downtown Ottawa, ON. This hotel is located on Colonel By Drive, just a short walk from
Parliament Hill,
The National Arts Centre, By Ward Market,
The National Gallery, and University of Ottawa.
In terms of extracurricular activities, it is very close to great shopping, sports
Ottawa Senators
Games, entertainment venues
Casino de Lac Leamy,
a multitude of restaurants,
Gatineau Park
and only 20 minutes from
Mont Cascades Ski Resort.
The social mixer and banquet will be held at the Westin. We hope that everyone will bring their skates to go
skating on the famous
Rideau Canal
which is the world's longest skating rink reaching 7.8 kilometres (4.5miles) long. Skate rentals are available at
the National Arts Centre, Fifth Ave, and Dows Lake. You can search for more information on activities, shopping,

ACCOMODATION
The special conference rate is $150 per night (single or double occupancy), plus applicable taxes. You can book
accommodations now by contacting the reservation line at 1-800-WESTIN-1. Tell them the name of the conference
when you call to get the special rate (the posted rate is $240). The special rate will be honoured for three days
prior to and after the conference. Cots can also be reserved for an additional $20 per night. For more details

We have reserved a block of rooms for the conference but these will be taken from us if rooms are not reserved by
01 December, 2001. In addition, penalties will be applied to the conference if room
bookings are under-subscribed. So please, book early.
HOW TO GET THERE FROM THE OTTAWA AIRPORT
The approximate driving time is 20 minutes from the airport to the hotel. From the airport follow the signs to
Ottawa/Hull. At the first major intersection, turn right onto Colonel By Dr. (the sign is prominent). Continue
along Colonel By for ~10 minutes. The Westin Ottawa will be on the right side.
