Some Stuff From my Matlab Directory

Plotting/Graphing

• avi2jpg.m - takes frames from an avi file and produces jpeg images.
• figure_size.m - Define the exact size of your figure (to fit specifications for presentations, journals, etc.).
• ocean_cm.m - a colormap for ocean bathymetry.
• squiver.m - like "quiver" but you choose the scaling.
• stickplot.m - makes stickplots.
• wysiwyg.m - formats figure size to match paper
• latex_labels.m - makes eps files where text may be done in LaTeX. (Requires latex_labels.perl, as well as some LaTeX style files mentioned in comments.)

Oceanography

• ctd_plot.m - makes pretty plots of CTD profiles.
• currents.m - calculates surface currents from SSH and windspeed (requires the data file drag_coeff_smith1988.dat and davefilt2.m).
• make_xbt_matfiles.m - creates Matlab files from XBT .EDT files, one for each file in the directory (requires remove_header.perl).
• greatcircle.m - gives angle between two points on a sphere.
• minsec2deg.m - converts degrees to decimal degrees.
• psu2ppt.m - converts salinity from PSU to PPT.
• rdi_coordTransform.m - maps ADCP velocities from beam to map coordinates.
• rdradcp_dougBIT.m - reads raw RDI ADCP files. Mostly Rich Pawlowicz's code.
• spice.m - Gives spiciness of a watermass. Written by Pierre Flament.

Simple, but frequent manipulations

• calendar_day.m - changes year-day to calendar day.
• cart2rad.m - converts points from cartesian to polar coordinates.
• getfilename.m - strips the "/" and "." off a filename.
• intersection.m - finds the intersection of two lines.
• line_plane_intersect.m - finds the intersection of a line and a plane.
• rad2deg.m - converts radians to degrees.
• relax.m - solves Laplaces equation through relaxation.
• rotation_matrix.m - rotates a vector through three dimensions.
